Range rules

All members, guests, and authorized users must read the following Range & Safety Rules and shall abide by them at all times. Failure to adhere to any of the following may result in serious injury, death, and/or dismissal from the range.  Please talk with our staff if you have any questions.

General Rules

All shooters must sign a waiver and release of liability before receiving range access.

  • The handling of any firearm after consuming alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • Tobacco use and vaping are not permitted inside of building or within 25 feet of any entrance.
  • Food and beverages are prohibited on the range.
  • Only Calibers members with a State of North Carolina Concealed Handgun permit may carry loaded, concealed firearms on the premises.
  • All Federal, State, and local firearm laws must be obeyed – no exceptions.
  • Valid photo identification is required for use of the range.
  • All members are responsible for their guests and must have them under direct supervision at all times, including minors under the age of 21.
  • Children must be supervised AT ALL TIMES while on the premises.  Shooters under the age of 21 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
  • All members and guests must read all safety rules posted in the premises.
  • Members must present their membership card upon entry to Calibers.
  • Every member of Calibers is designated as a safety officer and has the authority and responsibility to inform any other member or guest of any rule violation and to offer them guidance on rectifying the situation.
  • If a shooter does not rectify the situation and continues to violate the range rules, immediately inform range staff.

Range Rules

  • Always wear eye and ear protection while on the firing range.  This applies to shooters and non-shooters.
  • Acceptable eye protection includes shooting glasses, goggles, or eyeglasses with shatter proof lenses.
  • Acceptable ear protection includes ear plugs or ear muffs with a minimum rating of 28NRR.
  • Always be sure of your target and what is behind it; all bullets must impact the rear berms only.
  • Shooting across the range at other targets is not permitted.  Only shoot at the target directly in front of your lane.
  • No more than 1 person may stand in the shooting stall at one time.
  • No person will be allowed to cross the firing line at any time for any reason.  Contact range staff if you need assistance.
  • Always sweep all shell casings in front of the firing line, also remove targets and trash when finished shooting.
  • No outside targets are permitted.  All targets must be purchased from Calibers.

Firearm Safety Rules

  • All firearms are always considered loaded.
  • Never aim a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
  • Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are pointed at your target and ready to shoot.
  • Rapid fire must be approved by range staff.
  • All pistols and rifles must be kept pointing down range when preparing to fire and never pointing at the ceiling.
  • A “Cease Fire” may be called at any time and for any reason.  In the event of a “Cease Fire,” immediately stop firing your firearm and wait for further instruction from range staff.  Do not begin firing again until the range staff has given permission.
  • Never load or fire a firearm if there is any doubt of its ability to operate safely or you are unfamiliar with its operation.
  • Never leave a loaded firearm unattended.
  • Always ensure that their firearms and ammunition are compatible.
  • All firearms must be clear and bagged or cased before exiting the firing line.

Classroom Safety

  • No firearms or live ammunition are permitted in the classroom at any time. Unless directed to do so by the instructor.
  • Safe firearm handling procedures must be exercised at all times in the classroom.

Prohibited Ammunition

The following types of ammunition may not be used at Calibers at any time:

  • Steel cased ammunition.
  • Any caliber for rifled barrels greater than .45 caliber;
  • Shotguns or pistols firing shotgun shells;
  • Bottleneck ammunition such as 223, 5.56, 7.62, 338 or any other “rifle round;”
  • 50 BMG caliber center-fire rifle cartridges;
  • Tracers, incendiaries, or armor-piercing ammunition
  • Any explosive or pyrotechnic device.


When renting you are required to purchase Calibers ammunition with gun rentals. We ask this to mitigate reload issues, prevent damage or harm and elevate your overall experience.

Emergency Action Plan

  • In the event of an injury:
  • Call an immediate “Cease Fire” and ensure that all firearms are unloaded and clear with all actions open.
  • CALL 911 and provide the following information:
  • Location: Calibers—6910 Downwind Rd Greensboro, NC 27409
  • Number of the phone you are calling from
  • Number injured and their condition
  • Type of first aid being provided
  • Do not hang up the phone until dispatch says you may.
  • Provide immediate first aid, within your capabilities, to the injured person using the Trauma and/or First Aid kits available (see below).
  • If possible, assign someone to wait outside for EMS/Sheriff to arrive.

  • Fingertip adhesive bandages
  • ¾” and 1” adhesive bandages
  • Burn dressing
  • Steri-strips
  • Eyewash
  • Aspirin
  • Advil
  • Antiseptic spray
  • Antiseptic wipes

Trauma Kit - located in the range:

  • CAT tourniquet
  • QuikClot Combat Gauze
  • Israeli bandage 4”
  • 3” roll of compressed gauze
  • 2 chest seals
  • Nasal pharyngeal airway
  • Mylar blanket
  • Trauma shears
  • 2” medical tape
  • 4 pairs of nitrile gloves
